COVID-19 Testing Prior to Procedure with Dr. Yakes

Effective - April 27, 2020

All patients scheduled for an ethanol embolization(s) will require a COVID-19 test.


 Patients within 30 minutes of Swedish Medical Center:

  • Required to present to Swedish Medical Center 48 hrs prior to scheduled embolization for nasal swab test. 

    • Following the nasal swab test patients are required to self-isolate until their embolization(s).

  • Please use the below table to determine when you need to present for this test:​​​​​​

  • Patients will need to present to the COVID-19 Drive Thru testing area.

    • Hours of Operation:​

      • 7:00am - 8:30am

      • 5:00pm - 6:30pm

    • This is located off of  E. Hampden Ave. & S. Clarkson St. behind the 799 building​



Patients Outside of 30 minutes of Swedish Medical Center:

  • Highly recommended obtaining a nasal swab test  prior to scheduled embolization at a facility nearest you. Please follow the recommendations of the facility you are using to schedule this test to ensure results are received by our office a business day before your scheduled appointment.

    • Please use the above table as a reference for when testing should be completed if your facility has a 48 hour turnaround time for results. ​​​

  • Following the nasal swab test patients are required to self-isolate until their embolization(s).​

  • Results will need to be faxed or emailed to our office prior to scheduled embolization(s) as well as hand carrying a copy on the date of your embolization. ​

  • Patients who are unable to complete a nasal swab test may receive a rapid blood test the day of scheduled embolization at Swedish Medical Center. ​

    • This will need to be communicated to our office prior to scheduled embolization(s). ​

YVMC & Swedish Medical Center Visitor Restrictions

Effective - April 27, 2020

To ensure the safety of our patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues Swedish Medical Center has  implemented the following visitor restrictions:

  • Visiting hours are 6:00am to 8:00pm.

  • No more than 1 visitor per patient is allowed at one time.

    • 1 parent overnight for pediatrics, NICU, and laboring mothers

    • 1 patient advocate overnight for pre/post surgery​

  • No children under 12 years of age are allowed to enter the facility.

  • Visitors with cold or flu symptoms are not allowed enter the facility.

  • No visitors are allowed in high risk patient care areas.

  • Please refrain from gathering in common areas around the facility.

The above restrictions apply to all patients entering Swedish Medical Center or The Yakes Vascular Malformation Center. 

Swedish Medical Center Entry Point Information

Effective - April 27, 2020

All patients and visitors are required to enter through the main entrance of Swedish Medical Center.

All patients and visitors will then be screened with questions and a temperature check. 

Those who require a mask will be provided one at entry. 

However, we do recommend all patients and visitors arrive masked if they are able to do so.
